14 girls fall ill after eating lemon rice in AP school

At least 14 girl students fell ill after eating lemon rice in a Government-run residential school near here in Krishna district today, an official said.

Lemon rice was served to nearly 120 students of the Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Residential School at Myalavaram town this morning.

After consuming the same, 14 girl students (aged 10- 12 years) started vomiting. They were immediately rushed to Myalavaram Community Health Centre by the teachers and school warden, District Medical & Health Officer Nagamalleswari told PTI.

Two of them were discharged in the evening, while 12 students are still under treatment, but they are out of danger, Nagamalleswari said.
 

A senior Public Health Deparment officer visited the medical centre and inquired about condition of the girls. A special medical team has been sent to Myalavaram for better treatment of the students, the officer added.
