With the commencement of Ganesh Chaurthi, as many as 14 people have been arrested in different parts of the district for the alleged breach of rules during the occasion, police sources said today.
Nine persons were arrested today after they tried to re-install a Ganesh idol, which was being removed by the administration officials as no prior permission was being taken for the puja ceremony at Beria Khalilpur village in the district, they said.
In another incident, five persons were arrested last night at Kamalpur Patti village for the alleged indiscriminate use of loudspeakers, the sources said.
Meanwhile, in Dafrapur village in the district, tension prevailed when the administration objected to installation of a Ganesh idol terming it as a "new tradition".
