Altogether 14 houses have been dismantled here following cracks in the earth and sinking soil in the area, official sources said today.
Experts have already started enquiry into the reasons for cracking of earth and subsequent sinking soil after the houses were dismantled in the Ramhlun Sports Complex area by local volunteers in the past few days, the sources said.
Check dams would to be constructed to ensure that sinking of soil was checked effectively, an expert said.

C Lalpeksanga, Director of the State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department said the financial assistance received from the Centre would soon be utilised to combat the problem.
All the occupants of the 14 houses have been lodged in different buildings, including sport facilities and churches, the sources said.
Two other houses were also dismantled on Tuesday night by volunteers in the western part of Aizawl's Tuikual locality following massive landslides triggered by rains, the sources said.
