14 injured as bus falls in ditch

As many as 14 people were injured when a Chandigarh Roadways bus flipped thrice and fell in a ditch between Danoda and Saccha Khera villages in this district today.

The bus which was on its way to Chandigarh from Sirsa, flipped and fell in a ditch when the driver lost control of the vehicle as the steering wheel broke, police said.

Driver of the bus, Dewan Singh blamed the potholes on the road for breaking of the steering wheel which led to the accident, they said.

The passengers came out of the vehicle on their own by breaking the windshield and informed the police following which SHO of Sadar police station Narsingh arrived at the spot and sent the injured to the local civic hospital, the driver told the police.
 

Of the 14 injured, condition of three, identified as Preita, Kavita and Ramphal were stated to be serious and were transferred to PGIMS Rohtak, while the rest were discharged after preliminary treatment, police added.
