About 10 unidentified men today set 14 kiosks on fire in a poultry market in Sonia Vihar area of north-east Delhi, police and fire officials said.

According to fire department officials, the incident took place at 11.30 AM when about 10 persons, who belonged to Loni area of Ghaziabad, marched towards nearby Sonia Vihar area and torched the kiosks.

The group was apparently angry over a rumour related to the killing of animals that took place late last night in Loni area.

"A group of unidentified persons entered Pusta Number 5 of Sonia Vihar and set ablaze around 14 kiosks. As police deployment was intensified, group ran away towards Loni," police sources said.

Fire department official said that two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

"Two persons have been named an FIR in connection with animal killing. Of them, police have arrested one person while his accomplice would be arrested soon," said a senior police officer of Loni Police station.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered a case against a few unidentified perpetrators for riots and arson at Sonia Vihar police station. Further investigations are underway.
