14 youngsters from Goa selected for final trail

Goa's 14 most promising footballers between the age of 11 and 13 have been selected for the next phase of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs national selection camp.

Of the 200 players participating from across the country, 25 players will be selected for the ISL Young Champs Scholarship, FC Goa said in a release.

The scholarship programme involves being at the residential academy to be set up in Navi Mumbai.

Those selected from FC Goa include (born in 2002):Ramson Cardozo, Jeston Pinto, Sahil Patil, Asfin Pinto, Tristan Fernandes; born in 2003: Leavan Castanha, Joval Dias, Priceo Menezes, Velroy Cardozo, Jimmy Colaco; born in 2004: Sanket Patil, Elson Pereira, Ryan Menezes, Joefan Faria.
 

Piet Hubers, technical director (grassroots) for the Indian Super League(ISL) toured the country to pick the best 200 players among the eight ISL clubs.

Atletico Kolkata (70) has the highest number of probables. While other franchisees like NorthEast United (25), Kerala Blasters (24) and Mumbai City FC (20), Chennai (17) have been selected. While 15 players each have been picked up from Delhi and Pune, the release added.
