15.5 kg charas seized in Bihar

The Customs personnel today seized 15.5 kg of charas from a bus in East Champaran district of Bihar. The contraband is estimated to be worth Rs 8 lakh in the drug market.

Customs Superintendent S K Raman said the seizure was made at Sikrahna bridge on National Highway (NH) 28A under Sugauli police station in the district.

"We had put up a general checking on the bridge, and discovered this consignment of charas in bus plying from Raxaul on the Indo-Nepal border to Gopalganj. The narcotics substance was sealed in plastic packets of half kg each and kept in a bag in the vehicle," Raman said.
 

The Customs Superintendent added that nobody could be arrested as no claimant of the bag containing charas came forward. A case regarding the seizure has been instituted.

Raman also said that the narcotic substance is understood to have been brought from Nepal to be supplied at various places in our country.
