Fifteen students belonging to the banned Muslim Brotherhood have been referred to a military court in Egypt's Sharqiya governorate for damaging public property, a media report said.
The defendants were also accused of being members of an outlaw group, committing acts of violence, blocking roads and attacking the headquarters of the Police Club in Zakazik.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in October issued a decree allowing military trials for civilians who are suspected of committing crimes against vital and public facilities, days after a major terror attack killed at least 31 soldiers in the restive North Sinai governorate.
The Egyptian constitution bans military trials for civilians except in cases which represent a direct assault on armed forces institutions, their camps or anything that falls under their authority.
