In a suspected case of food poisoning, at least 15 labourers, including seven women, were hospitalised here today, as they complained of health problems after eating food prepared at home, a hospital official said.

Condition of most of the victims is stable, two of them are kept under observation, Dr Deveshwar Pandey, Superintendent of Gujarat government-run Sir Sayajirao General Hospital said, where they are undergoing treatment.

A relative of the victims, Kanti Katara, said, "We had bought 'Gunda' vegetable leaves from our native Agavada village in Dohad district, where we had gone to celebrate 'dhuleti' (holi) a fortnight ago."

"We returned to the city last night. Before going to factory on the city outskirts early this morning, Gunda leaves vegetable and makai rotlas (maize breads) were prepared for everyone. All the 15 affected members ate this before going to work, but immediately suffered health problems," he said.

The affected persons were first taken to primary health centre at Tundav village and later shifted to SSG Hospital for treatment, Pandey said.
