According to security sources, the attack was carried out by Jihadists from both Egypt and the West Bank. In addition, an armoured vehicle was stolen and later bombed by the Israeli air force.
According to witnesses, the attack was carried out at the break of the fasting in Egypt at two different check points in Sinai. The soldiers, being totally off guard, were taken by surprise and did not have chance to reply back.
Residents of the city of Arish, the closest city in the Sinai Peninsula to the point of attack, protested in the streets in condemnation of the incident.
Meanwhile, President Mursi has given a short televised speech in which he vowed the incident will not pass by and will be avenged.
The social media users expressed fervent activity citing a diversity of the sides to blame. The majority of the blame is targeted at Mursi for his decision to grant amnesty to Islamists in jail and released hundreds of them less than two weeks ago.
Mursi has also expressed rapprochement with Hamas hosting the premier of the deposed government in the West Bank Ismail Haniyah, exporting diesel fuel to Gaza and opening the Rafah border unconditionally.
On the other hand, some social media users are directing blame at the army for the poor state the soldiers were found to be in.
