As many as 151 motorists were arrested during an operation to check drunk driving in the city and 13 of them were sent to three days in jail by a local court, police said today.
The operation was conducted last night in which 151 people were arrested after breath analysis revealed they were driving under influence of liquor, according to a press release issued by the Police Commissioner's office.
In the operation, police also seized eight trucks, 13 cars, 16 autos and 114 motorcycles from the offenders.
Today, 35 of the arrested where produced before a Metropolitan Magistrate, who sent 13 of them to three days in jail, and imposed a Rs 1,000 penalty each on the 22 others.
The other 116 are yet to be produced in the court.
