A total of 1576 Bangladeshi nationals were deported from Delhi in the last two years, the Rajya Sabha was told today.
In a written reply to a question in the House, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said that in 2012 and 2013, 902 and 674 Bangladeshi nationals were deported from the national capital.
"As per the direction of the Delhi High Court and the apex court, government had prepared and finalized an action plan for detection and deportation of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in 2005.

Replying to a question on shortage of employees and officers in Delhi's Tihar Jail and other jails, Kiren said that out of total 1,952 posts, 554 posts are vacant.
"The Group 'A' and 'B' posts are filled up by promotion and transfer basis. 727 employees of Group 'C' jail cadre employees have been recruited during the last ten years to various posts and 186 employees/officers gave up their jobs during that period," the minister said.
