16 booked after clash over Gurdwara's control

A case has been registered against 16 people after members of two groups allegedly clashed over the control of a Gurdwara here, police said today.

Gurdip Singh was allegedly beaten up by the members of a rival group on Thursday at around 10.30 PM in connection with a dispute over the control of a Gurdwara in Amarpura area, they said.

Following which members of the other group came out in support of Gurdip and people from both the sides hurled bricks, stones and bottles at each other, the police said.

The video of the clash has also gone viral on social media.
 

Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhruman Nimbale said a case was registered today against 16 people on the charges of voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful restraint and rioting among other.

Out of the 16 accused, four have been identified, police said.
