"The Gujarat government's measles immunisation programme began today. But as soon as the children were given the injections, they started feeling giddy. As a precautionary measure, we admitted them to Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research," Health Officer of Surat Municipal Corporation Hemant Desai told PTI.

The measles vaccination campaign is part of Union government's 'Measles Routine Immunisation' Project. It began in Rajkot on October 7 and was launched today in Ahmedabad and here.

This is the third phase of the campaign in Ahmedabad. In the first two phases, about 30 lakh children in the age group of nine months to 10 years, were administered measles vaccine in the state, a release issued by health department said.
