At least 16 more militants were killed in the latest air strikes by Pakistan military jets in the troubled North Waziristan.

Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched on June 15 against al-Qaeda linked militants.

Military spokesman Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said in a statement that seven terrorists hideouts were destroyed by air force aircraft on outskirts of Mirali.

He said "16 terrorists" were killed in the attack.

An ammunition and explosives dump was also destroyed.

The ground offensive was still not launched despite the fact that most of the civilians have already fled.

The operation has killed more than 350 militants.
