16 Zila Pramukh posts reserved for women in Rajasthan

In view of next month's Panchayat Polls in Rajasthan, 16 out of 33 Zila Pramukh seats will be reserved for women candidates, while Jaipur's seat would be reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidate, an official spokesman said today.

An official lottery draw was held for 33 Zila Pramukh at Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Institution here in which officials including Srimat Pandey, Principal Secretary to state's Chief Minister and several political leaders were present, the spokesman said.

Of the 16 women reserved seats, nine Zila Pramukh would be of General Category in Bikaner, Dausa, Sawaimadhopur, Alwar, Sirohi, Nagaur, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, and Sriganganagar districts.
 

Three Scheduled Caste Zila seats for women will be reserved in Ajmer, Barmer, and Jaisalmer districts. Two seats for women would be reserved under Scheduled Tribe category in Pratapgarh, and Jhalawar. The remaining two seats would be reserved for OBC women category in Bundi and Chittorgarh districts.

Eight Zila Pramukh seats are marked as General Category in Dholpur, Jalore, Haunumargarh, Jodhpur, Karauli, Tonk, Bhilwara, and Churu districts.

Jaipur, Banswara, and Dungarpur Zila Pramukh seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates, whereas Sikar, Rajsamand and Udaipur for Scheduled Caste seats.

Baran, Pali and Kota are reserved for OBC seats, the spokesperson added.
