160 houses gutted in fire-related incidents in Bihar

At least 160 houses were gutted today in fire-related incidents in Bihar's Samastipur, Vaishali and Madhubani districts injuring seven persons, police sources said.

A major fire broke out in Chapahi village under Rajnagar police station area in Madhubani district razing more than 70 thatches houses in which an unidentified man sustained burn injuries, while properties worth lakhs of rupees got damaged, the sources said.

The fire broke out in a house from spark emanating from an oven and spread to adjoining areas trapping over 70 thatches houses, they said, adding fire tenders were pressed into service to douse flames.

A report from Samastipur district said 55 houses were gutted in incidents of fire in Mustafapur, Barnama and Basadiha villages, while 40 huts were razed to the ground in similar incident in Bajipur Chakwa village under Sahdei block in neighbouring Vaishali district, in which six persons sustained burn injuries, sources said.
 

The injured were taken to a Primary Health Centre for treatment where the condition of an injured woman was stated to be serious, they said.
