17 employees of Civil Supplies Corporation officials suspended

Seventeen officials and employees of Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd were suspended today after unaccounted cash running into crores were seized from different offices across the state by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), according to official sources here.

Two contractual employees of the department were also sacked, an ACB official said.

"The action was taken on the Chief Minister's directive after statewide raids conducted by ACB last week," the official said.

Orders in this connection were released by Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd Managing Director Brijesh Chandra Mishra, he said.

Manager of Raipur-based headquarters of the Corporation and in-charge of the Public Distribution System Shivshankar Bhatt, Company Secretary Sandeep Agrawal, Deputy Manager Girish Sharma, Accounts Officer G K Dewangan, Assistant Accounts Officer Sudhir Kumar Bhole, Senior Assistant S K Chandrakar, Senior Assistant Jeetram Yadav and steno-typist Arvid Dhruv are among those suspended, the official said.
 

R P Pathak and Devendra Singh Kushwaha, who were appointed as technical assistants on a contractual basis on May 3, 2014, for one year have also been sacked.

During a raid at the Raipur headquarters of the Corporation Ltd last week, ACB had seized Rs 1.61 crore in cash and several other documents from the office of manager Shivshankar Bhatt, besides Rs 20 lakh from Girish Sharma, the personal assistant to former Managing Director Anil Tuteja.

Raids were also simultaneously conducted at over two dozen offices of the Corporation and residences of officers across the state during which around Rs 3 crore in cash was recovered from officials and employees.
