17 govt employees found absent from work during surprise check

As many as 17 government employees here were found absent from work during a surprise check conducted by a senior official here today.

To ensure that the employees report to work on time, Phagwara Sub-divisional Additional Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Singh Sandhu today conducted the surprise check at over one dozen government offices and found as many as 17 staff members absent, an official release said.

The offices of Housefed and Soil Conservation departments were found locked till 10.30 AM even though the office timing is from 9 AM, it said.

Nine employees in the Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) office, two in Tehsil Welfare office, one in Punjab State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd office and five in Agriculture Department office were found absent, said the release.
 

Sandhu said the names of the employees found absent from work had been sent to Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner for necessary disciplinary action.
