On a day of mayhem, 17 wickets fell in the Ranji Trophy match between Railways and Gujarat, who were bowled out for 187 before they reduced the rivals to a pathetic 63 for seven, here today.

Electing to field, Railways seemed to be dominating the game when they bowled out Gujarat under 200 with left-arm paceman Deepak Bansal taking six wickets.

However, things changed dramatically with Gujarat taking seven wickets to get upper hand in the Group A match at Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium, here today.

Bansal had struck for Railways in the second over of the match when he trapped opener Samit Gohel and it was Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel, who saved the side with a fighting 61-run knock.

Patel was also dropped by Bansal, who ripped the top and middle order with his precise bowling.

When Railways came out bat, medium pacer Mehul Patel changed the fortunes of Gujarat by dismissing four Railways batsmen while veteran RP Singh chipped in with two wickets.

Captain Karn Sharma was at the crease with an unbeaten 22 and giving him company was Anureet Singh.

Brief Scores:

Gujarat 1st innings: 187 all out in 56.4 overs(P Patel 61, Chirag Gandhi 30; D Bansal 6/46).

Railways 1st innings: 63 for 7 in 26 overs. (K Sharma 22 batting; M Patel 4/22).
