18 BESU students punished

While one student was expelled, two others were suspended for two years and six were barred from sitting the semester examination, Vice-chancellor Prof Ajay Kumar Roy said.

Guardians of the nine others would be called and asked to give an undertaking that their wards would not indulge in such activity in future, Kumar said.

Following the April 12 incident, the university set up a five-member enquiry panel and found 18 students who were involved.

The punishment was announced after the panel submitted its report, the VC said. PTI COR
