An 18-year-old boy was allegedly killed by his friend by serving him poison-laden dessert on Eid at Thana Lishadi Gate here, police said today.
According to an FIR, victim Shabi was killed by Naeem, who invited him over to his house on the eve of the festival. The accused served him poison-laden Sheer after which Shabi complained of uneasiness.
Naeem then dropped the victim nearby home and fled from the spot. Shabi was admitted to a hospital by his family members where he died, police said.
Initial investigations reveal that Naeem and Shabi were in 'love' with a girl, which must have driven Shabi to commit the crime out of 'jealousy', police said, adding the role of the girl is also being probed.
The body was sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered against Shabi, police said, adding the investigation is underway.
