Hyderabad police today arrested 19 persons, hailing from Belagavi district of Karnataka, for offering bogus 'ayurvedic' medicines.
Additional Deputy Commissioner C Shashidhar Raju said that police, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid and nabbed 19 men, all natives of Gokak in Karnataka.
"They moved around in various areas of the city, targeting old persons suffering from different ailments, and offered to cure them through Ayurvedic treatment," he said.

They charged anything between Rs 25,000 to Rs 2 lakh and dispensed bogus medicines before disappearing from the area.
Police recovered Rs 2 lakh in cash, 24 cell phones, some fake medicines and 11 two-wheelers during the raid.
A case of cheating, criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust under the IPC and also under relevant sections of Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act was registered. Probe is on.
