19 criminals held in Bihar

Nineteen criminals were arrested today in East Champaran and Nawada districts of Bihar, police said.

Acting on a tip off, a police team raided a hideout in Laxmipur locality in East Champaran district and arrested 15 criminals, including three guards of a private security agency in Patna, Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar said.

A haul of weapons comprising four rifles, two pistols, 32 cartridges, 15 mobile phones, two four-wheelers, besides Rs 51,000 cash were seized from these criminals, he said.

During verification, arms licence of four weapons were found to be fake, Kumar said.

The criminals had planned to eliminate a Raxaul-based trader, the SP said.
 

In a related development, Nawada police arrested four criminals of Naveen Singh gang from Navin Nagar and Shiv Nagar localities, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shaharyar Akhtar said.
