At least 19 people were injured and several houses damaged today as lightning struck Assam's Chirang district, officials said.
Lightning struck several villages in Bengtol area, injuring at least 19 people, they said.
Eight of the wounded have been admitted to Bongaigaon Civil Hospital and the rest to Bengtol public health centre.
A number of houses were also damaged in the lightning, which was accompanied by torrential rainfall, they said.
