19 lakh children to be administered pulse polio drops in J&K

Launching the campaign by administering polio drops to a new born child and other infants up to the age of five years at Government Hospital Gandhinagar and Railway station here, he said polio drops would be administered at 11,224 booths all over the state.

He said 45,672 trained personnel have been deployed to man the booths and hold door-to-door campaign with 284 mobile and 276 transit teams.

The Minister said the campaign will continue for two more days by way of house-to-house activity to trace and administer polio drops to the left out children on first day of the current round.

 

Khan said, "Our large investments in the health sector are yielding results. Health indicators such as infant mortality rate and fertility rate showed continuous decline."

He said no polio case has been reported since January 2011 and World Health Organisation has removed India from the list of polio-endemic countries.
