At least 19 policemen were injured when a mini-truck carrying them for Muharram duty overturned in south Delhi's Hauz Khas area this morning.
The injured were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre from where 17 were discharged after first aid while the remaining two are undergoing treatment. The duo were said to be out of danger.
"The incident took place in the morning when 22 policemen posted at South Campus police station were on their way in a Tata 407 mini-truck to Lodhi Colony police station for Muharram duty at Karbala in the city," said a police official.
As the truck reached the Hauz Khas area, its driver tried to overtake a vehicle but realised that its brakes had failed. While trying to avoid hitting other vehicles, the driver lost control of the mini-truck and it overturned, police said.
