190 police stations to be brought under CCTNS in J&K

As many as 190 offices of the police department including two police headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir would be brought under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project.

As many as 190 police department offices, including two police headquarters at Srinagar and Jammu, State Crime Record Bureau at Jammu, two zonal offices, seven range offices, 25 district police offices and 67 SDPO and ASP offices, would be brought under the network, an official said today at the apex committee meeting of the CCTNS headed by Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey.

The programme is being taken up on a mission mode under the government's National e-Governance Project (NeGP) to improve policing. Till date Rs 9.60 crore have been allocated by the Centre of which Rs 5.78 crore have been spent on the project.
