The SSB constables were commissioned into the border force after a 44-week gruelling training at the forces training centre at Ranidanga near here.
The 196 young troops have been trained in map reading, weapon handling, field craft and tactics, disaster management, low intensity warfare, intelligence, border management and other subjects related to policing.
During the passing out parade, Inspector General SSB Avinash Chandra urged the young troopers to render selfless duty and deliver their best on the borders of Nepal and Bhutan -- two countries with whom India has historical, cultural and friendly ties.
Among the personnel who passed out today, 37 are from Uttar Pradesh, 29 from Bihar, 18 from Assam, 16 from West Bengal, 14 from Maharashtra, 11 each from Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, nine from Jharkhand, eight each from Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, seven each from Punjab and Karnataka and the rest from other states.
