19th National Youth Festival begins tomorrow in Guwahati

Around 2,500 participants from across 24 states in the country will take part in the 19th National Youth Festival beginning here from tomorrow.

"The 19th National Youth Festival 2015 will start from tomorrow at Nehru Stadium... All together 2,500 participants, including officials from 24 states, are participating in the events," an official release said.

The five-day cultural extravaganza is being organised by the Union Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in association with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare of Assam government.

"Assam and the entire North East is going to be the proud host of the festival for the first time. Thus through these activities, it will open a wide range of scope and avenues to the youth to provide nationwide exposure for fulfillment of their cultural talents and abilities," the statement said.
 

In addition to the scheduled competitions, there will be cultural nights everyday, featuring Bollywood singers like Alka Yagnik, Zubin Garg, and Papon, besides rock bands from the North East.
