Stating this today, Chairman and Managing Director of Haryana Discoms Devender Singh said that the present ongoing programme of strengthening power distribution system will be completed by this summer season at a cost of Rs 500 crore.
Under this programme, a major stress has been given on special maintenance and strengthening the old system which covers works like tightening loose conductors, replacement of all iron poles, maintenance and augmentation of transformers.
"A bigger plan for strengthening and augmenting the power distribution system would start thereafter," he said in a release.
He informed that each village and urban ward would get at least one additional distribution transformer as Haryana Power Distribution Corporations have planed to install over 11,000 new distribution transformers, erect 80,000 poles, required length of cable, conductor and switches all over the state at a cost of about Rs 500 crore.
"The programme will thus eliminate the problem of overloading of the system," he claimed.
Meanwhile, Singh also said that if defaulters for the period before June 16, 2005 came forward to pay off the principal amount of the bills pertaining to the period, all pending bills till then and whole of the late payment surcharge would be waived off.
