2,700 acre land identified for SIPCOT in Sivaganga dist

:Tamil Nadu government has identified 2700 acres of land in Sivaganga district to develop industries under the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT), the state Assembly was informed today.

Replying to a query during question hour, Industries Minister P Thangamani said the land has been identified to set up a SIPCOT campus for industries in Sivaganga district.

While 493 acres has already been developed and 21 companies were yet to come forward, 17 were already functional and the remaining were expected to start functioning soon.

He was replying to M Gunasekaran (Manamadurai),who sought to form an industrialised district in Sivaganga district.
 

To a query by CPI member S Gunasekaran (Sivaganga), the Minister said Videocon was coming to the industrial estate as announced. "The construction has been completed and we are in talks with them to start functioning as soon as possible.
