Muzaffarnagar riots: 2,700 more victims apply for relief

Families of the five gangrape victims in the district will also be provided a relief of Rs 5 lakh each after completing formalities

Twenty-seven hundred more victims of Muzaffarnagar riots have applied for relief at the collector's office, district administration said today.

"2,700 riot victims from different riot-hit villages have applied for relief and their applications are under scrutiny," Additional District Magistrate Inder Mani Tripathi said.

"District administration has so far provided relief of Rs 5 lakh each to 952 victim families. And, as per directives of the Supreme Court, others would also be provided relief," Tripathi said.

Families of the five gangrape victims in the district will also be provided a relief of Rs 5 lakh each after completing formalities, the ADM said.
