2.8 quintal poppy husk recovered, 4 arrested

Four persons have been arrested and 2.8 quintal poppy husk has been recovered from their possession here, police said today.

Acting on a tip off, police intercepted a jeep at checkpoint between Chand Nawan and Chand Purana villages on last evening. After a search of the vehicle, 2.8 quintals of poppy husk was recovered, they said.

Four occupants of the jeep, identified as Sukhdev Singh, Shinder Singh, Surjit Singh and Kirpal Singh were arrested, police said.

During preliminary investigation, the accused said they brought the consignment from Rajasthan via link road to Dharmkot sub division to deliver it to one of their customers here.
 

A case has been registered in this regard and an investigation is underway, police said.
