Immediately after the clash, police took away Bishan Ram along with Ashok Bishnoi and Om Prakash, his gang members and other accused in the same case on production warrant with them.
According to jail sources, Kailash Jakhar had an argument with Swaroop Singh, an undertrial in the case relating to the murder of a gangster Dinesh Manju, in the jail in the afternoon.
Hearing this, Bishan Ram came out in support of Jakhar and had a clash with Swaroop Singh who retaliated along with another jail inmate and his friend Joonjhar Singh who is a convict under NDPS act.
Sources said before the jail staff could interfere, both of them sustained bruise marks and were disengaged.
Jakhar and Swaroop Singh belong to different gangs and Jakhar is a witness to the murder of Dinesh Manjoo by the gang Swaroop Singh belongs to.
Swaroop Singh attacked Jakhar with a sword but he had escaped the bid. Jail administration, however, denied this.
