Two alleged auto-lifters, one of whom said he was inspired by Sanjay Dutt's role in Bollywood film 'Vastav', have been arrested, police said today.
According to the police, Vishal Singh (23) and Sonu Kumar (22) were arrested after a trap was laid near Azad Hind Gram.
"The duo were been involved in five incidents of vehicle theft and snatching. One motorcycle, one scooter, one loaded country-made pistol, one button-activated knife and two mobile phones with some jewellery have been recovered from them," said Additional Commissioner of Police (West) V Renganathan.
Police said that during interrogation, they told them that both are unemployed and therefore committed thefts to earn their livelihood.
"Vishal Singh told us that he took to crime as he was inspired by a Bollywood movie 'Vastav' in which Sanjay Dutt plays the role of a criminal. He has watched this movie more than 50 times and he has a great desire to meet Sanjay Dutt," said a police official.
