2 arrested by ACB for offering bribe to police official

Two persons were today arrested here for allegedly offering a bribe of Rs 50,000 to a police official for setting free a man arrested on charges of smuggling wheat meant for public distribution to open market.

ADCP (East) Kalilash Singh Sandu, in a complaint, informed the ACB that police had arrested Gangaram and seized a wheat-laden truck. Later it was revealed that the food grains were meant for public distribution, ASP ACB (Rural) C P Sharma said.

Sandhu said Gangaram's nephew Ranveer Bishnoi and son Premaram tried to offer him a bribe of Rs 50,000 for letting of the accused along with the seized truck, said Sharma.
 

A trap was laid and the duo were arrested while offering bribe to the police official at his residence, he said.
