Two men were arrested for robbing a man of his car and mobile phone at gunpoint after hiring his vehicle, police said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Nawada-resident Rohit alias Raman (29) Abhishek Singh (24), a resident of Bharthal, were arrested from southwest Delhi within an hour of filing of a complaint on Sunday, the police said.
According to the complaint filed by Ajay Yadav, Rohit booked his car for a ride from Nawada to Jhajjar in Haryana.
"He picked the passenger from Nawada and when he reached Bijwasan, Rohit threatened him with his country-made pistol and asked him to follow his instructions.
"Rohit took Yadav to Jhajjar, Rohtak and Kharkhoda in Haryana. Later he asked Yadav to take him to an area near Palam Airport where one of his associates met and boarded the car. Thereafter, the accused persons pushed Yadav out of the car and robbed his mobile and sped away towards Chhawala," a senior police official said.
Devender Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), said, "After receiving the information, the police team conducted several raids and at around 6.15 pm, one I-20 car was spotted coming from Jhajjar side towards Chhawala drain. The team signalled the car to stop for checking but instead of stopping, the driver tried to speed away."
However, after a brief chase, the accused were apprehended. During interrogation, they confessed that they had committed the robbery, the DCP said.
The car along with a mobile phone and a country-made pistol have been recovered from their possession.
