2 arrested in connection with Azamgarh hooch tragedy

Police have arrested two persons in connection with the recent hooch tragedy here which claimed 15 lives.

Mulayam Singh Yadav alias Surendra Yadav and his associate Pintu Yadav were last night arrested from Mubarakpur road when they were trying to escape to Mumbai, police said.

Mulayam was involved in a hooch tragedy in 2013 and DGP Sulkhan Singh had announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest, they said.

He is also said to have issued threats to a sub- inspector.

As many as 503 pouches of illicit liquor were seized from the two vehicles they were travelling in, police said.
 

At least 15 people died after consuming spurious liquor in Kewathiya village under the Raunapar police station area earlier this month.
