Two students of a medical college have been arrested in connection with the alleged suicide of a first year MBBS student last week in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, police said here today.
Ankit Patel and Heeramani Patel, second year MBBS students of Raipur's Lakhiram Agrawal Memorial Medical College, were arrested following a complaint of ragging by victim Nishant Upadhyay's parents on Wednesday, Raigarh Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhagat said.
They were booked under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of IPC and section 4 of the Chhattisgarh Anti-Ragging Act 2001, Bhagat said.

"Preliminary investigations suggest that harassment by seniors prompted Nishant to take the extreme step," the SP said.
His parents submitted records of Facebook chat conversations between Nishant and his mother wherein the victim stated that he was being consistently harassed by his seniors.
"As per his mother's statement, her son informed her that he was forced to dance naked by his seniors," the SP said.
Upadhyay (19), a native of Banaras in Uttar Pradesh, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his college hostel room on November 8.
Nishant was staying in the hostel for the last two months. He had returned to the college on November 7 after the Diwali break.
His parents have alleged that Upadhyay was ragged by his seniors. An enquiry has been initiated into the incident, the SP said.
The arrested students were produced in a local court yesterday which sent them to judicial custody for 14 days, the SP said.
