Two motorcycle-borne criminals allegedly fired at a Youth Congress leader today when he was going towards Ghaziabad in his car, but missed their target.

Police said the criminals fired at 35-year-old Siddhartha Kundu, Youth Congress president of Northwest Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, when his car was standing at the Mohan Nagar intersection around 2:30 PM.

Kundu, an advocate, told police that he was on his way to Ghaziabad court in connection with some litigation. He was sitting on the front seat of the car.

As soon as the car reached the Mohan Nagar intersection, two young boys overtook the car from left side and fired two shots at the car.

One bullet pierced through the bonnet of the car, police said. Kundu had a narrow escape.

Sahibabad police station SHO Upendra Yadav immediately reached the spot and forensic teams were summoned.

Kundu informed police about a property dispute in his family. Police, however, could not find an eyewitness to the incident. Further investigations are on into the matter, Yadav added.
