The bodies of two persons, including a woman, suspected to have been lynched were recovered today from two places in Sonitpur district of Assam.
Nine persons were picked up for violating prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC by arming themselves following rumours that 'naked men' were roaming in the area to rape women.
An unidentified male body was recovered near Pachnoi Railway Bridge in Dhekiajuli, suspected to have been lynched for being one of the 'naked men', police sources said.

District Superintendent of Police Arabinda Kalita said, "Police teams visited the remote villages where rumours about 'naked men' roaming around to rape women was creating a fear psychosis among the people."
Nine persons were picked up by police last night for violating section 144 of CrPC by guarding their Parbatia village with lethal weapons against the raids by 'naked men'.
Today their family members gheraoed Tezpur police station claiming that they were innocent.
Three people were lynched following the rumour about the movement of 'naked men' roaming in Balishiha village in the district yesterday.
Rumours of 'naked men' has created a fear psychosis in Tezpur area with villagers guarding their area with lethal weapons to protect the women, sources said.
Urging villagers not to move about with weapons in the night, Deputy Commissioner Tapan Chandra Sarmah said that there is no need to be in panic and action would be taken against those found with weapons.
