Two persons from Jalgaon district were booked for allegedly selling at least one lakh litres of kerosene in black market, police said today.

The accused Rajesh and Mruntyunjay Upadhyay, both office-bearers of consumer co-operative societies, had government permit to sell kerosene in Varangaon and nearby areas, they said.

"They availed kerosene worth Rs 48 lakh. Instead of supplying it to the beneficiaries, they sold it in black market from January 2012 till December 2013," said API, Varangaon police station Dilip Gangurde.

"Following a complaint by the District Supply Officer Ravindra Jadhav, a case has been registered in this regard and a probe is underway," he added.
