Two persons were today booked in Faridpur village for using a video to campaign for controversial BJP leader Sangeet Som containing parts of his speech related to the 2015 Dadri lynching case and his arrest during the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.

The vehicle used for canvassing and the CD containing the clip has been seized by police and a case registered against Virendra Kumar and Chandrshekhar Singh on the charge of violating the Model Code of Conduct.

The CD includes parts related to Kawal killings, the mahapanchayat in Khera village and Som's arrest during the Muzaffarnagar riots.

Faridpur is also Som's native village.

District Magistrate B Chandrakala said she has sought a detailed report in the case from SDM Meerut and will take action thereafter.

However, Som, who is contesting from Sardhana seat, said there was "nothing controversial in the CD and that parts of the video had already been aired on TV news channels".
