2 bootleggers arrested

Two suspected bootleggers smuggling imported brands of liquor using a Mercedes car have been arrested and alcohol worth Rs 50 lakh and cash Rs 15.5 lakh recovered from them in south Delhi's RK Puram area, police said today.

Mukesh Dhingra (48) was caught by a police team on specific input from Sector 5 of RK Puram area on June 28. A search of his Mercedes led to recovery of 33 bottles of beer, whisky, wine and rum and Rs 4 lakh in cash, said Ishwar Singh, DCP (south).

Interrogation of Dhingra led police to Narendra Kumar Sharma who was arrested in a separate raid. 1,207 bottles of different brands of imported liquors were seized from his godown in Sector 5 of RK Puram area.
 

Also 12 bottles of liquor and Rs 11.5 lakh in cash was recovered from Sharma's residence in East of Kailash. The total liquor recovered by the police is estimated to be worth Rs 50 lakh.
