Two Muslim Brotherhood members allegedly involved in 34 terrorism cases, were killed today in an exchange of fire with security forces in Egypt's Fayoum governorate, hours after unidentified gunmen killed a policeman.

The two members were charged in 34 terrorist cases including killing of a four-year-old police officer's daughter and a policeman, security officials said.

The incident took place few hours after unknown gunmen killed a policeman in the Upper Egyptian city of Sohag governorate. The gunmen targeted him and fired many rounds, killing him on the spot.

Egypt has witnessed many violent attacks by militants since the January, 2011 revolution that toppled the ex-president Hosni Mubarak.

The attacks targeting police and military increased after the ouster of Islamist ex-president Mohamed Morsi in 2013 by military following massive protests against his rule. Over 600 security personnel have been reported killed since then.
