2 cash loading firm staff among 3 held for Rs 1.50 cr theft

Three persons, including two employees of a cash management services company, were today arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 1.49 crore cash from number of ATMs in the city over a period of time, Cyberabad police said.

"We have recovered Rs 73 lakh, cell phones, motorcycles and household articles from the accused," DCP of Malakajgiri zone R Rama Rajeshwari said.

The accused-- M Sudheer Kumar, Mutha Ashok-- both employees of CMS, a cash management agency, along with their associate Golla Manoj, took away the cash from the ATM centres located on the ECIL route," the DCP said.

As part of the job, Sudheer and Ashok used to replenish cash in ATMs.
 

"However, the duo used to steal cash from the same ATMs at night as they possessed the necessary passwords to unlock the ATMs," the police official said.

The accused managed to steal Rs 1.49 crore from as many as 23 ATMs in a span of five months, the DCP said adding, "The CMS staff during their routine cash audit noticed shortage of the money from the ATMs and the a company official lodged a complaint with Nacharam police station."

Investigation into the case is on, the police said.
