Two persons wanted in a shootout with a police party during a failed cattle theft bid in January has been arrested from Sarai Kale Khan Bus Terminal, police said today.
Mehtab (28) and Shehnab (22), who had a reward of Rs 25,000 on them, along with their other gang members had stolen cattle from Rohini on the intervening night of 15-16 January. When police teams chased them, the gang fired on them and crushed PCR vans. Two PCR officials were injured during the incident.
"We received a tip-off yesterday that Mehtab and Shehnab would come near Sarai Kale Khan Bus Terminal to meet their accomplice. We laid a trap and the duo was apprehended," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.
Three members of the same gang were arrested on February 4. They were involved in more than a dozen cases of cattle thefts in Delhi, and more than 50 such cases across NCR, UP, Haryana, police said.
