Two local police officials were suspended for allegedly proceeding on their own to arrest Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited (DCHL) chairman T Venkatram Reddy without informing their seniors and following proper procedure.

Head constable Joginder Singh and Constable Subhash went to Secunderabad last Thursday to arrest Reddy and six others against whom a Chandigarh court had issued non-bailable warrants on March 23 after they failed to appear in a dishonoured cheque case, police said today.

A complaint was made by Andhra Pradesh police on Friday about the two police officials trying to enforce the non-bailable warrants without following the due process.

Singh and Subhash were suspended with immediate effect following an inquiry carried out by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Central, Ashish Kapoor.
