Two children died after falling into a trench dug to store spring water at a tea estate in Jalpaiguri district today.
A district official said, Simran Biswakarma (6) annd Suraj Biswakarma (8) were declared dead at Mal Hospital after being taken out of accumulated water.
The children were playing on the side of the spring when accidentally both tripped in water after losing balance at Dumding.
The deaths of the little girl and boy cast a pall of gloom in the labour lines area.
